A beautifully restored 1940s Art Deco burr walnut dressing table with its original adjustable mirror, refinished in Coal Black with elegant gold detailing.
This is a genuine one-of-a-kind vintage piece, combining the extraordinary figuring of the original burr walnut with a sophisticated contemporary Art Deco finish. With seven drawers and a removable mirror, it can be used as either a luxurious dressing table or an elegant statement desk.
The walnut veneer on this piece was so beautiful, I knew the old adage ‘less is more’ had to come into play somewhere.
Dating from the 1940s, it has the most incredible burr walnut, full of warm, rich tones and that beautiful rippled grain that makes every drawer just a little bit different. It was in such lovely condition that I really wanted the wood to be the star of the show.
Coal black gives the piece a slightly more dramatic feel and frames the walnut beautifully, while the simple gold linear design on the drawer fronts is a little nod to the glamour of Art Deco. The handles were removed, carefully refurbished and refitted because they worked so beautifully with the gold detailing, there really was no reason to change them.
The original shaped mirror is fully adjustable and seven drawers give you plenty of useful storage for all those lotions, potions and bits and pieces we seem to accumulate.
Although it was made as a dressing table, remove the mirror and I think it would make a rather fabulous desk too.
