A Modern Classic with a Whisper of the Past
There was a time when a desk like this was part of daily life — the quiet heart of a home. A place where letters were written, diaries kept, and cheques signed with a fountain pen. Desks weren’t flat-packed for self-assembly; they were beautifully made, endlessly useful, and built to last.
This mid-century G Plan floating desk carries that spirit forward. Its clean lines have been carefully revived in deep coal black, while the dark green top, edged with a fine gold stripe, nods gently to the old leather writing desks of another era. Four drawers show off the warmth of restored teak, each front finished with a fine gold pinstripe. And at the centre, a hidden baize-lined drawer waits, ready to hold pens, notebooks, or the next small idea worth keeping.
We may never know who once sat at this desk, but what matters is who will sit at it next. A quietly elegant piece, ready to grace a home or home office — and perhaps to inspire a few new stories of its own.
